Hiroshima Carp pitcher Norihito Morishita(June 25th Hero Interview)
“I was in contact with (Hiroki) Tokoda yesterday, and he told me, ‘You can hit one,’ so I’m glad I was able to do it.”
Tuesday, June 25th: Hiroshima Carp vs. Yakult (Mazda Stadium)
Bravo Morishita, the “two-way player”! Morishita pitched well, leaving no openings for the Yakult batting line, and in the 4th and 5th innings, he dealt with the cleanup hitters with just 6 pitches, retiring them all.
He had 3 hits in 3 at-bats.
This is my second multi-hit game this season. I’ll show you my batting skills too. Yesssss!
In the sixth inning, leadoff batter Takashi Uemoto got on base with a hit, then walked to extend the opportunity, and then took the lead in a lucky run when Shoichi Futamata’s short fly was dropped by the opponent.
Next up at bat was Tsubasa Aizawa. He hit a two-run home run to left field, making the score 3-0. Yessssss!
Morishita then pitched a shutout victory, allowing only two hits in the ninth inning, throwing just 91 pitches.
Norihito Morishita 9 innings, 91 pitches, 2 hits, 0 runs allowed, shutout for 6th win
Thanks to the efforts of the Morishita/Aizawa battery, Hiroshima won a comfortable victory over Yakult. (Hiroshima 3-0 Yakult)

Nice game. Morishita/Aizawa battery, “Maddux”.
Commentator Junpei Hirao(Representative Director of Hiroshima Jin University)
Maddux, you know, the guy who could pitch a shutout in under 100 pitches? I’ve been studying.
Takaharu Aoyama Caster
This is the first time the Carp team has had a Maddux and a multi-hit game.
Junpei Hirao
Really.
Yuki Nakane Caster
That’s amazing. Even though it was raining, you kept your concentration and kept the score at zero. That’s really amazing.
Takaharu Aoyama Caster
Catcher Aizawa was also involved in the no-hitter pitched by pitcher Osera Daichi the other day, but what’s interesting about Maddux is that he’s also a catcher named Aizawa.
Junpei Hirao
The catcher’s lead is big.
Takaharu Aoyama Caster
I can rely on you.
