I’ve never thought of myself as someone who was particularly good at acting…

The films Audrey Hepburn appears in are always a dream world far from reality, and the fashion is cute. When a movie was released, I would happily go to the theater to see it and watch it on repeat. There have been many actresses who look like her since then, but there is no one quite like her. That’s charisma itself.

What I remember well is the photo taken after the screen test for “Roman Holiday” (1953), which was published in a magazine called “Eiga no Tomo”. The photo of her getting up from the bed on the set and smiling with a relieved expression on her face was really cute, and I think that smile alone was enough to pass the test. It was unknown at the time, but for some reason it left a strong impression on me.

As with “Roman Holiday,” she is an actress who suits Europe well. “Afternoon Affair” (1957) was also set in Paris, right? The role of a Parisian girl in love with an American man played by Gary Cooper was truly charming. “Paris” (1957), in which you co-starred with Fred Astaire, was also wonderful.

I’ve never thought of her as someone who is particularly good at acting, but the fairy-like, clean, and fashionable atmosphere she exudes is on a whole other level. You can see why it is still extremely popular.
