A 62-year-old man was killed after a building collapsed in Delhi’s Sabzi Mandi area due to heavy rains. With this accident, the death toll in rain-related incidents in the national capital rose to three, while an equal number of people were injured in separate incidents in the city. Large parts of the city were inundated due to heavy rains on Wednesday evening, while traffic on major routes was disrupted and people were stranded. According to a police official, Anil Kumar Gupta was inside the building when it collapsed at 8.30 pm. He was taken to St Stephen’s Hospital where he died.

In east Delhi’s Ghazipur area, 22-year-old woman Tanuja and her 3-year-old son Priyansh, who had gone to the weekly market on Wednesday night, slipped and drowned in a water-filled drain. The incident took place around 8 pm in an under-construction drain on the side of the road near Khoda Colony area. Police official said that both of them were taken out with the help of divers and crane and taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where doctors declared them dead. Officials said that till 7 am, Delhi Police had received 2945 reports of traffic jam, 127 of waterlogging, 27 of building collapse and 50 of falling trees.
