The Ministry of Health in Gaza said on Sunday, January 7 (Jadi 17) that during an Israeli attack, two journalists were killed in the Palestinian territory.
The Ministry of Health of Gaza and health workers said that Mustafa Soraya, a photographer of the AFP news agency, and Hamza Wael al-Dahdouh, a reporter of the Al Jazeera television network, were killed when they were traveling in their car.
Hamza’s father, Wael al-Dahdouh, the director of Al Jazeera network in Gaza, lost his wife and two children during the Israeli bombardment and was also injured.
Mustafa Soraya, who was about 30 years old, has been busy working with France News Agency and several other media since 2009.
According to the New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists, from October 7th last year, when the war between Hamas and Israel began, to December 31st, at least 77 journalists and media workers – 70 Palestinians, four Israelis and three Lebanese – have been killed
The media office of the Hamas government said in a statement: “We condemn the heinous crimes committed by the occupying Israeli army to intimidate the target and prevent media coverage (of the war).”
Israel has not yet confirmed or denied the killing of these journalists.
Agence France-Presse asked the Israeli army to comment on the killing of these two journalists, but the Israeli army responded by asking for information about the location where the two journalists were killed.
