Goldman Sachs Group Inc. has named Rob Drake-Brockman as chief executive officer of its Singapore office, a move that is increasing the bank’s importance to the city.

Drake-Brockman replaces James Ellery, who is relocating to London and will continue in his role as head of Asia-Pacific equities distribution and execution, according to the statement.

Goldman has more than 1,300 employees in Singapore, its second-largest office in the region after Hong Kong, and is also one of the bank’s global centers for commodities trading.
