“GO HOME~Metropolitan Police Department Unidentified Persons Consultation Room~” Episode 4 Synopsis

A single-vehicle motorcycle accident occurs in the mountains of Ibaraki Prefecture. The young man who was driving is confirmed dead at the hospital where he was taken. As he cannot be identified, Sakura and her friends check the list of missing persons and discover that the man is a university student, Hayama Satoshi (Hamada Tatsuomi), whose parents had reported him missing. As the motorcycle was stolen, there is a whiff of crime in the air. Sakura and Makoto are hesitant to report the incident to the family, but they trudge to the house of Satoshi’s parents.

His father Yoshihiko (Sakurai Sei) and mother Akiko (Nakajima Hiroko) had not been able to contact Satoshi for a year, but about 10 days ago, they received an envelope containing a lucky charm from Satoshi. When Makoto saw the charm, she was surprised and asked, “Hayama-san, have you ever lived in Fukushima?” As Makoto had expected, the Hayama family had lived in Fukushima Prefecture until 13 years ago. The charm was from a shrine in Fukushima, and was apparently given to Satoshi by someone when he was a child. Sakura was concerned about Makoto’s agitation upon seeing the charm.

That night, Makoto began talking about the charm, saying, “I bought one in Fukushima, too. Together with Shinichi-san,” and Sakura was able to confide her past for the first time. Makoto had a fiancé named Odagiri Shinichi (Fukuda Yuta), and Shinichi, who quit his job at a publishing company and returned to his hometown of Fukushima, has been missing since the day of the Great East Japan Earthquake. “I’ve been stuck since then. I don’t know if he’s alive or dead.” Sakura tells Makoto, who is unable to move forward, “Maybe the charm was something that Sato-kun gave to Shinichi-san.” If that’s the case, then investigating Satoshi might help find a clue to Shinichi. Makoto refuses to face the truth, saying, “Stop it, I don’t want to get hurt,” but Sakura can’t just sit back and do nothing.
