[Reporter Liu Wanjun/Tainan Report]Chimei Museum’s international exhibition “From Raphael to Van Gogh: Collection of the British National Gallery” will close today (1). Since its launch on May 2, it has attracted more than 425,000 people. This is the most visited special exhibition in the history of Chimei Museum so far. After the exhibition, Chimei Museum will be closed for three days starting tomorrow.
“From Raphael to Van Gogh” displays 50 masters and 52 authentic paintings. It is also the largest and highest-level special exhibition since the opening of the Chimei Museum. It is known as “the highest-level Western painting exhibition in Taiwan’s history” and will last for 4 years. The month-long exhibition set a record for the highest number of visitors to the special exhibition since the opening of the Chimei Museum. It also marked the British National Gallery’s first visit to Taiwan in 200 years, setting a brilliant record.

Chimei Museum Director Xu Jiazhang said that due to the large number of visitors during the exhibition, the Chimei Museum has been working hard to find the greatest balance between “expanding public participation” and “maintaining the quality of exhibitions”, hoping that as many people as possible can enter the exhibition if they want to see it. At the same time, we must also take into account the number of people the exhibition space can accommodate. In the future, we will continue to introduce high-quality international exhibitions, and at the same time create more high-level exhibitions to bring Taiwanese people a richer and more diverse artistic experience.
Xu Jiazhang said that after the exhibition ends today, Chimei Museum will be closed for three days from tomorrow (2nd) to 4th to carry out exhibition maintenance and equipment maintenance and other related operations. At the same time, it will prepare for the special exhibition “Painters” to be launched on October 26. We: Entering the era of Dutch painting in the 16th and 17th centuries.” The special exhibition “Painters” will lead the public from painting appreciation to decryption of the underlying works, and understand the unique Dutch painting era in art history.
