Call for Essays for the 20th Lam Wing Sam Literary Award

Purpose: To encourage authors who express their vitality through literature and stimulate literary creation in Taiwan.

Eligibility: Anyone with the nationality of the Republic of China is eligible to participate.

Awards:

one. Short Story Award: between 8,000 and 11,000 words. One first prize, a bonus of RMB 600,000, and a trophy; one second prize, a bonus of RMB 300,000, and a trophy; one third prize, a bonus of RMB 150,000, and a trophy; two outstanding works, each The prize is 60,000 yuan and a trophy.

two. Prose Award: No more than 3,000 to 4,000 words. One first prize, a bonus of RMB 250,000, and a trophy; one second prize, a bonus of RMB 120,000, and a trophy; one third prize, a bonus of RMB 70,000, and a trophy; two outstanding works, each The prize is 40,000 yuan and a trophy.

three. New Poetry Award: between thirty-five and fifty lines. One first prize, a bonus of RMB 200,000, and a trophy; one second prize, a bonus of RMB 100,000, and a trophy; one third prize, a bonus of RMB 60,000, and a trophy; two outstanding works, each with a bonus of RMB 3 Ten thousand yuan, a trophy.

Four. Essay Award: No more than 1,000 words. Ten winners will be selected and each will receive a bonus of NT$30,000 and a trophy.

Award description:

one. The above awards are of any type and subject matter can be used freely. Participants are welcome to submit their most creative works.

two. The selection of outstanding works or additions to the awards shall be determined by the judges based on the quality of the works.

Application conditions:

one. The work must not have been published in whole or in part in any form of print or online media, including personal blogs and Facebook. Plagiarism and ghostwriting (including AI) are strictly prohibited. Once discovered, the work will be disqualified.

two. Please apply in Chinese.

three. Each award is limited to one entry.

Four. Colleagues of the Lam Wing Sam Cultural Charity Foundation and colleagues of Liberty Times’ “Liberty Supplement” are not allowed to participate.

How to apply:

one. Both handwritten manuscripts or Chinese printed manuscripts (level 12 characters) are acceptable. Those who participate in the New Poetry Award should indicate the number of lines in the upper right corner of the homepage. Those who participate in other awards should indicate the number of words in the upper right corner of the homepage. The word count includes the title and text punctuation, and the line count for the New Poetry Award does not include blank lines.

two. Please post in triplicate. Manuscripts will not be rejected, please keep the manuscripts for yourself.

three. Please attach the author information form. Please download the form from the foundation’s website (www.lrsf.org.tw). If you cannot download it, please call the foundation to request it, or write the application category, article title, real name, pen name, household address, mailing address, contact number, email, birthday, ID card number, academic qualifications, and resume on a separate sheet. Those whose information does not match will not be selected.

Four. Submissions must be registered and mailed to “Lin Rongsan Cultural Charity Foundation, 5th Floor, No. 10, Section 3, Chongzhong Road, Sanchong District, New Taipei City 241004”. Please indicate the application award on the envelope, such as “Applicant for the Short Story Award”, “Applicant for the Prose Award”, “Apply for the New Poetry Award” and “Apply for the Essay Award”. If you apply for multiple applications, please package them separately and send them by registered mail.

Receipt date: Received from July 1st.

Deadline: July 31st. The postmark is valid and late applications will not be accepted.

Review process: After the submission is received, the association will number it immediately and divide it into three stages: preliminary review, re-examination and final review. We will hire professional writers and scholars to conduct the review.

Announcement date: Announced in two stages. In the first stage, the winners of “Short Stories”, “Essays” and “New Poems” will be announced on October 18, regardless of ranking, and the ten winners of “Essay” will be announced, all selected The list of winners will be published in the “Liberty Supplement” of the Liberty Times and the Foundation’s website on that day; in the second stage, the first prize, second prize, third prize and outstanding works of each award will be announced on-site on the day of awarding.

Awards: The date and location of the awards will be announced separately.

Precautions:

one. The foundation retains the rights of print and electronic publication and reprinting of all winning works. When included in the literature award collection, related publications, and online publication, no extra contribution fee will be charged.

two. After the winner accepts the trophy bonus from the association, the winning work may not participate in other literary awards. Otherwise, the qualification for winning the award will be cancelled, and the trophy bonus will be recovered.

three. If there are any unfinished matters in these Measures, they may be revised and announced at any time.
