New Delhi : in Bastar, Chhattisgarh Four units of more than 4,000 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel will be deployed in the most Naxal-affected areas. The government has resolved to end Naxalism by March 2026. These steps are being taken as part of the same decisive battle strategy.

CRPF has withdrawn three units from Jharkhand and one unit from Bihar in Bastar area, which is 400 to 500 km from Raipur. The situation of Naxalite activities in these two states has improved and the incidents here are found to be negligible. Therefore, it is believed that the pieces here will be put to good use in Chhattisgarh.

Sources have informed that units like 159, 218, 214 and 22 will be deployed along with the existing manpower of ‘CRPF’ in Naxalite areas of Chhattisgarh. 1000 employees are working in each unit. These units will be deployed in the far-flung districts of Dantewada and Sukma, as well as remote areas bordering the states of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had announced the time frame of the campaign during his visit to Chhattisgarh capital Raipur last month. At this time, he emphasized on the action plan to rid the country of left-wing extremism, which is the biggest threat to the country’s internal security.

153 naxalites were killed in the encounter

Chhattisgarh state has seen an increase in anti-Naxal activities in recent times. This year, 153 Naxalites have been killed in encounters with security forces. Home Minister Amit Shah had said in a press conference in Raipur on August 24 that there has been a 53 percent reduction in Naxalite violence incidents in the country between 2014 and 2024 compared to 2004 to 2014. In that regard, this campaign is said to be decisive.
