Kolkata: The Ranji Trophy match between Kerala and Bengal ended in a draw. On the fourth day, Kerala declared the first innings at 356 runs for nine wickets.
In reply, Bengal scored 181 runs for three wickets and the game was tied. Resuming batting at 267 for seven wickets, Kerala reached 356 thanks to the performance of Salman Nisar and Mohammad Azharuddin. Azharuddin returned with 84 runs while Salman Nisar remained unbeaten with 95 runs. Due to heavy rain, the match started late for a day and a half
After the clash, Kerala made a strong comeback to draw level. Kerala lost six wickets while scoring 83 runs in the first innings. However, it was the century combination of the seventh wicket and the eighth wicket that got Kerala. With this, Kerala is second in Elite Group C with eight points from three games with one win and two draws. Having won one game and tied two games with first innings lead, Haryana will be at the top spot with 13 points.
For Kerala, Aditya Sarvathe took two wickets and Jalaj Saxena took one wicket. Openers Shuvam Dey (67 off 113 balls) and Sadeep Chatterjee (57 off 102 balls) scored half-centuries for Bengal.
