Wu Qiubei: Hong Kong has a glorious patriotic gene
He pointed out that Hong Kong has always had a glorious patriotic gene, but it has long been suppressed by the British Hong Kong government. The patriotic trade unions have always inherited the patriotic gene and have always insisted on promoting patriotic labor movements. The Hong Kong Seamen’s Strike (1922) was an important starting point for the development of the labor movement in Hong Kong and China in the future; next year will usher in the 100th anniversary of the Guangdong-Hong Kong Strike (1925), which is an important history of the working people of Hong Kong and Guangdong Province in their fight against imperialism and colonialism. Wu Qiubei announced that the unveiling ceremony of the Seamen’s Strike Zhongshan Park will be held on June 25. At that time, government representatives and seamen’s union representatives will witness the unforgettable moment together.
In addition, he recently submitted to the National People’s Congress a “Suggestion on National Support for Hong Kong in Holding Military Equipment Exhibitions, etc.”, reflecting the voices of citizens reflected in the questionnaire to the country, striving to hold relevant exhibitions in Hong Kong in the future, enhancing Hong Kong people’s understanding of national development and enhancing national pride.
