After the 0-2 defeat against Hannover 96, 1. FC Nürnberg moved further and further into the bottom of the table. Coach Klose has to find solutions.

For the 1. FC Nuremberg Things continue to go downhill in the 2nd Bundesliga. Coach Miroslav Klose’s team lost the game against Hannover 96 (0:2) in just 104 seconds. However, in the minutes before, the club’s chances were only good for a lucky point.

What the FCN has been putting on the field for weeks is not enough. Klose is fighting a sloppy problem. There can be no question of an offensive. No goal again. According to league statistics, out of a total of ten shots, only four actually hit Hannover’s goal. The rest went wrong. 14th place in the table. Now there is a threat of a season in the basement of the 2nd league.

For FCN coach Klose “it looked okay”

In the 79th minute, FCN conceded the 0:1 thanks to a somewhat unfortunate penalty. And just 104 seconds later, the second goal hit the club goal. With the third ZERO bankruptcy The pressure on the coach and the team continues to grow. But with the Franconians they don’t even try to absorb the negative mood.

For Defender Robin Knoche was clear after the game: “For me it was a classic 0-0 game that both of them could have lived with. The goal was to be in a good position first. We managed that.” And also Coach Klose saw a lot of good approaches again: “It was a very even game and we made a few changes with and against the ball. It looked okay until the endwe had more possession of the ball. We defended Hannover’s attacks well for a long time, but the penalty decided the game.”

But the numbers provided by 1. FC Nürnberg speak for themselves the language of a relegated person – just seven points after seven games. Opposite the Bild newspaper Miroslav Klose explains that he knows how football works in such times: “In the coaching business, it’s normal for the mechanisms to work like this, but for me the only thing that applies is what we discuss internally in the team.”

Club plays without attack – only 8 goals in 7 games

But can FCN survive in the second division without a functioning offensive? First eight goals the Nuremberg team achieved. Only Eintracht Braunschweig (7) and Jahn Regensburg (1) have scored fewer goals. Both clubs are currently in 17th and 18th place in the table.

The club is just two points away from the relegation place. Will coach Klose finally get his storm under control in the coming weeks? The coach’s demands are clearly formulated: “If we play through the outside, we have to attack the box much more dangerously.”

The team also knows that goals and points are a must. Proper games no longer help. Knoche: “But we also know that points matter in football, so we have to try to take something with us next week.”

FCN before important games – this is where victories come from

If you look at the game plan, then MUST 1. FC Nürnberg will basically take at least two wins from the next three games. If you leave too many points there, things will be really tight for Miroslav Klose and the club will have another horror season with fear of relegation.

The next games: Next Saturday against Preußen Münster (15th place), and on October 25th against the current bottom team Jahn Regensburg.

In between there is the Franconian derby against Greuther Fürth on October 20th. A game in which a lot can always happen. AND: FCN has not been able to win the last three derbies. 1:2 in Fürth on February 25, 2024, a 1:1 draw on September 15, 2023 in Nuremberg and another 0:1 away defeat on February 4, 2023.
