New Delhi: Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT. Usha. The members of the executive committee had written to International Olympic Committee chief Jerome Powek demanding that the president behaves in a dictatorial manner and that the Indian Olympic Committee should be made democratic. After that, Usha came against the members.
Usha also wrote to Jerome Powek against the senior members of the committee. Usha’s letter is against 12 committee members, including senior vice-president Ajay Patel, Olympic medalist Gagan Narang, joint secretaries Alaka Nanda Ashok, Kalyan Chaubey and Yogeshwar Dutt. Usha also mentioned in the letter that the allegations are aimed at defaming his leadership and the efforts of those who are doing their best for the betterment of Indian sports.
Usha also alleged that in her career of 45 years, she has not seen any person making such allegations. Some committee members misappropriated funds. In the letter, it is said that there were biased behavior and sexual harassment complaints against some.
The controversy started in the committee regarding the appointment of Raghuram Iyer as the CEO of IOA. 12 members of the committee are against the appointment of Raghuram Iyer. He asked to appoint someone else instead. But PT will not back down from the procedures. Usha clarified.
