On the 29th, the Aichi Prefectural Police Moriyama Station arrested Hamashima Isao (62) of Shimojinyacho, Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, an executive of the company, on suspicion of embezzlement for embezzling approximately 19.9 million yen in cash from the textile product sales company in Nagoya City where he works. According to the station, as the accounting manager, he was solely responsible for salary payment work. The total amount of damage from the company was approximately 200 million yen from around September 2019, and the station is investigating the possibility that Hamashima was involved.

The suspect is accused of embezzling a total of 19.9 million yen by transferring the money from the company’s savings account to his own account five times between January and May this year. He also created fictitious salary data under the names of several former employees and had the money deposited on the paydays.

The company received information from multiple employees about the suspect, such as “He is planning to buy a luxury watch” and “He owns several foreign cars,” and an internal investigation revealed the embezzlement. A damage report was filed with the police.
