As delays in the construction of pavilions for the Osaka-Kansai Expo are being pointed out, it has been revealed that one of the participating countries, Slovakia, is planning to abandon the construction of its own pavilion, “Type A.”
Slovakia is said to be interested in the “Type Wood” proposed by the Osaka Prefecture Wood Association.
Slovakia, a central European country, had planned to participate in the Osaka-Kansai Expo with a “Type A” pavilion it would build itself, but according to officials, the country has decided to abandon plans to build the “Type A” pavilion as there are concerns that construction may not be completed in time for the opening.
Slovakia discussed switching to a simplified “Type X” pavilion with the Expo Association, but was told that it was too late and was instead advised to switch to “Type C,” a building prepared by the association that would be shared by multiple countries.
On the other hand, the Slovakian side is reluctant, saying that “Type C is not large enough,” and is also considering switching to “Type Wood.”
“Type Wood” is a package plan proposed by the Osaka Prefecture Wood Association that can be completed by the opening in April next year. The association has not received any formal requests from the participating countries so far.
A number of countries are abandoning plans to build their own “Type A” pavilions, citing construction schedules and other factors.
