Immediately after arriving on the Peninsula of Tears in Elden Ring, you can meet Irina. She wants you to deliver a letter to her father Edgar. In this guide, we will guide you through all the steps of this quest and answer the question of whether Irina can be saved.

Find Irina & accept quest

Irina sits directly on the left side of the road after you cross the Bridge of Sacrifice in the south of Limgrave. She tells you that she escaped from Castle Morne further south. Her father Edgar is still there, however, and you are supposed to deliver a letter to him for Irina.

Accept their order and then continue on Head south until you reach Morne Castle.

Find Edgar & hand over letter

Inside Morne Castle you must first fight your way through the courtyard and climb up the castle walls. You will then find Edgar on the eastern corner tower of the castle. Here he is sitting on a bench and you can talk to him. You can see the exact route to him in the video above from minute 1:45.

First he gives you a Sacrificial Branch Talisman before you Hand over Irina’s letter He thanks you, but insists on staying until he has fulfilled his duty as commander. You should tell Irina that he will come to her as soon as he has successfully defended the castle.

Irina dead: Can she be saved?

If you return to Irina now, she will be lying dead on the ground with a blood-stained scimitar stuck in the ground next to her. There currently seems to be no way to prevent her deathFor example, if you kill Edgar at the first meeting or don’t hand over the letter, she will still be lying dead at her location afterwards.

Summon Edgar in boss fight

In front of the boss arena in the very south of Morne Castle you can turn left Summon Castellan Edgar as helperwhich supports you in the subsequent boss fight against the lion-like monster.

Once you have defeated the boss, you can return to Edgar on the tower (You must rest at a place of grace at some point.) He thanks you for helping him fulfill his duty and is happy to return to Irina.

Meet Edgar at Irina’s body

Back at Irina’s location, Edgar will now kneel mourning over Irina’s corpse. He swears revenge and now wants to find his daughter’s murderers. At this point, this quest ends on a very unsatisfying note. Whether it continues after this is not yet clear at the time of publication of this guide.

Edgar as Invader

You can meet Edgar again later in the game, because he will at the Avenger’s Hut in the west of Liurnia invade your world as “Edgar the Avenger”.

Once you defeat him, he will drop the following loot:

• Halberd of the Exiles +8
• Crooked finger medicine
• Shabriri Grape (Needed for Hyetta’s Quest)
• 2x Raw meatball
