Conclusion

Ecovacs combines a vacuum/mop robot with an effective cordless vacuum cleaner to meet almost all cleaning needs at home. The robot reaches corners and mops thoroughly, while the handheld vacuum covers the less accessible places. Both devices share a dust bag on the docking station and combine comprehensive features with high comfort. However, this comes at a price.

In most households, a vacuum/mopping robot is only one piece of cleaning equipment. Because no matter how good the devices are these days, they reach their limits for many tasks (due to their design). If you only want to vacuum up a few crumbs on the sofa or in hard-to-reach corners, you need a second device. Ecovacs now conveniently supplies this as well.

The T30S Combo combines a typical vacuum and mop robot with a cordless vacuum cleaner – and all this with a shared cleaning station. In contrast to the Deebot X2 Combo (tested here), the extension tube is included, so you get a fully-fledged cordless vacuum cleaner.

Design & Processing

We have already received many heavy and, above all, large boxes containing vacuum/mopping robots. It feels like the Deebot T30S Combo Complete surpasses everything that has come before. With dimensions of just under 65 × 50 × 75 centimeters and a weight of over 20 kilograms, the box already gives you an idea that the Ecovacs model requires more space than the usual vacuum/mopping robots.

Yes, this is confirmed after unpacking the individual parts and quickly assembling them. For the base station, you should plan on a space of at least 60 × 50 centimeters (width × depth) near a power socket. And you should definitely add 30 centimeters to the height of 53 centimeters in order to be able to easily remove and insert the two water tanks.

The assembly is quick. The parts supplied can be put together without tools according to the well-illustrated instructions. On the underside of the robot there is a cleaning brush and two mixing mops (one is extendable). These are attached with Velcro and are removable. Good: They can be cleaned in the washing machine. This saves you having to buy new mixing mops.

The build quality is good. Everything fits without creaking and without gaps that are too large. The black design makes the Deebot T30S Combo Complete look very bulky and immediately noticeable. The white version is a little more subtle.

Installation

After assembly, the Deebot T30S Combo Complete is connected to the power supply. The on/off switch is located under the removable cover of the robot.

If the Ecovacs Home app is installed on the iPhone or Android smartphone, the robot can be added using the QR code under the lid. An assistant guides you through the individual steps in which a Bluetooth connection and WiFi are configured and an existing firmware update is downloaded and installed.

The YIKO voice assistant can also be set up to control the Deebot T30S Combo Complete with your voice. There are a few more tips on how to use the cordless vacuum cleaner and both devices are ready for the necessary mapping. This runs automatically. The robot uses TrueMapping 2.0 laser navigation to explore the area and create a map with rooms and obstacles. This works reliably, as expected and as you would expect from other Ecovacs models.

Settings in the app

The Ecovacs Home app is the control center for all compatible Ecovacs devices, so in addition to the vacuum/mopping robots such as the Deebot T30 Pro Omni, it also includes the Goat G1 and GX-600 robotic lawnmowers. We like the didactic structure and the clear instructions. Numerous functions can be activated and set in individual areas, such as the desired cleaning modes with water flow rate, suction power and cleaning speed.

Within the automatically created maps, you can insert virtual furniture and name rooms. This has the advantage that targeted cleaning of rooms is also possible using voice commands, for example “YIKO, vacuum the living room”.

Good cleaning performance

The vacuum robot as part of the Deebot T30S Combo Complete is not a completely new device. It is essentially based on the Deebot T30 Pro Omni, which we have already tested here. Accordingly, it has similar functions and almost identical performance.

As is usual with the 24-generation devices, the right mop extends. This technology, called TrueEdge, ensures that there are no longer any edges to walls and furniture. The result is seamless cleaning.

If a carpet is detected as a floor covering, the lift function automatically raises the mops by up to nine millimeters so that the carpet does not get wet or dirty.

The basic navigation works perfectly: The robot uses TrueDetect 3D 3.0 technology with structured light. According to Ecovacs, this should lead to millimeter-precise obstacle avoidance through advanced algorithms.

The T30S Combo Complete does not show any weaknesses in the vacuuming and wiping test on the tiled floor. Thanks to the strong suction power of 11,000 Pa, dirt and dust end up in the robot’s collection container. This is a bit small, so it has to be emptied in the base station often when it is very dirty. The large 3-liter vacuum cleaner bag in the base station should last for up to 60 days.

Pet owners and/or people with long hair will be happy with the zero-tangle brush. It “combs” long hair so that it does not get tangled in the brush and is vacuumed away directly.

As with the other models, Ecovacs has dispensed with a separate water tank in the robot’s T30S Combo Complete. The station has a fresh water tank with a capacity of four liters. Therefore, the robot has to return to the station every few minutes.

There, the mops are cleaned and moistened with water heated to 70 degrees Celsius. This way, they are thoroughly cleaned and freed of stubborn dirt. The particularly dirty mops are identified by a sensor in the wastewater pipe. Then another cleaning cycle is started automatically.

The cleaning performance is clearly evident in the residues in the dirty water tank (3.5 litre capacity) of the base station.

The mopping/vacuum robot is complemented by a battery-powered vacuum cleaner weighing around 1.2 kilograms, which is sunk into a device. For optimal use, a two-part suction tube made of metal and plastic, which cannot be adjusted in length, and a floor nozzle with lighting are available. The two attachments and the narrow brush supplied also impress with their high-quality workmanship and handling.

For the handheld vacuum cleaner, Ecovacs uses a main cyclone and a mesh filter to effectively capture large and small particles. The six-stage cyclone structure is designed to separate air and dust to prevent blockages. At the same time, this should enable high suction power over a long period of time. According to Ecovacs, the 13-stage, washable HEPA filter can capture up to 99.97 percent of 0.3 micrometer fine dust particles.

The pistol-like vacuum cleaner is based on the Dyson models in terms of design. However, there are not many other ways to combine the motor, battery, dust container and display in a compact housing. The suction power can be regulated in two stages. In contrast to many other models of a similar design, the battery-powered vacuum cleaner runs for more than 30 minutes in one go. This is quite different from Dyson devices, which often only last for ten minutes at a time.

Cleaning with the cordless vacuum cleaner works reliably: Ecovacs also uses a special technology with the wide brush to largely avoid the annoying tangling of hair.

The handheld vacuum cleaner also disposes of dust via the base station. If it ends up in its holder after more than 30 seconds of use, it is completely emptied. The process can also be started manually at the push of a button.

Conclusion

The Ecovacs Deebot T30S Combo Complete combines vacuuming, mopping and handheld vacuuming in one device. Its strengths include the powerful suction power of up to 11,000 PA, precise navigation and comprehensive cleaning options for different floor coverings. This makes the device very versatile. As is usual with modern mopping/vacuum robots, there is an automatic hot water cleaning of the mops with subsequent drying and the emptying of the dust container from the robot into the base station – this also applies to the cordless vacuum cleaner.

In everyday life, the Deebot T30S Combo Complete does a really good job. Vacuuming and mopping works reliably and with high efficiency. This is easy to see from the dirty water and the full vacuum cleaner brush.

Anyone who finds space for the Deebot T30S Combo Complete in their apartment or house can look forward to a good household helper.
