Mumbai: Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has become the highest paid sportsperson in the country. The actor paid Rs 66 crore as tax in the last financial year.
Former Indian captain M.S. Dhoni and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar are right behind. Dhoni paid Rs 38 crore as tax. Sachin Rs 28 crores. Sourav Ganguly paid 23 crores and Hardik Pandya 13 crores as tax. Most notably, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is not in the top five.
According to the estimates of 2024, Kohli’s net worth will be more than 1000 crores. Kohli is the highest paid sportsperson in India. He is also one of the most followed sportspersons on Instagram. The actor gets crores for just one post on social media. A major portion of the revenue comes from Bengaluru Royal Challengers in the IPL through BCCI contracts.
In addition, Kohli is also the brand ambassador of several companies including Puma and MRF. The actor has signed an advertising contract worth over one hundred crore rupees for Puma alone.
