Serbian world number one tennis player Novak Djokovic announced on March 27 that he has parted ways with his coach Goran Ivanisevic.
“A few days ago, Goran and I decided to stop working together,” she wrote on Instagram. “Our relationship on the court has had its ups and downs, but our friendship has always been unwavering,” she said, before thanking Ivanisevic.
Djokovic brought in Ivanisevic, the 2001 Wimbledon champion, for the 2019 tournament and the pair went on to win multiple Grand Slam titles over the course of five years.
But he has struggled to start the season compared to his high standards, including a loss in the semi-finals of the Australian Open to eventual winner Jannik Sinner of Italy.
He recently lost in the third round of the BNP Paribas Open to underdog Luca Nardi of Italy and pulled out of this week’s Miami Open due to scheduling conflicts.
