According to the assessment of the OCOP Hau Giang Product Classification Evaluation Council, OCOP products are based on key and typical agricultural products of the province such as rice, jackfruit, durian, custard-apple, fish, and eel. … to produce, process, and diversify new products, ensuring food safety and hygiene factors, useful for health, convenience, and beautiful product packaging.
Ms. Tran Thi Ut, Director of Ngoc Thanh Cantaloupe Cooperative (Phuoc Thanh hamlet, Dong Thanh commune, Chau Thanh district, Hau Giang province) said that the starting point is Ngoc Thanh farm and the cantaloupe product is certified. OCOP 3 stars in 2022, to date, the production area and number of net houses have expanded to 12 net houses, yielding 160 tons of melons/year meeting VietGAP standards. At the same time, with the support of authorities at all levels and the Office for Coordination of National Target Programs in Hau Giang province, in packaging, design, and branding, cantaloupe products are popular with consumers.” – Mrs. Ut said.
According to Mr. Huynh Thanh Huu, Chief of Hau Giang National Target Program Coordination Office, from now until the end of 2024, if the remaining two localities of the province implementing OCOP products are completed, the province will reach the plan of 75 communes, Wards and towns implement the OCOP Program. The Office continues to inspect and guide districts, towns and cities to develop products, organize assessment and classification of OCOP products at the district level, and complete registration dossiers for assessment and classification of OCOP products at the provincial level. in the near future.
The goal is that by the end of 2024, each district-level unit will organize the evaluation and classification of at least 5 products achieving 3 – 4 star OCOP products at the district level; Among them, at least 1 product achieved 4-star OCOP product at the provincial level. At the same time, the province promotes the role of industry associations in linking production, preservation, processing and consumption of agricultural products to create conditions for the province’s OCOP products to strongly participate in domestic and foreign markets. .
The OCOP program of Hau Giang province achieved many practical results. To date, the province has more than 300 OCOP products, of which 109 are 4-star products, the rest are 3-star products, with hundreds of participating entities, of which 18 companies, accounting for 14.4%; 36 cooperatives, accounting for 28.8%; 71 establishments and business households, accounting for 56.8%.
