In preparation for the US presidential election, the Democratic Party has closed online voting to select its candidate and will officially nominate Vice President Harris.
Harris has already secured the majority of delegates needed to be nominated as the candidate, securing her place.
She will be the second woman to be nominated as a presidential candidate by a major U.S. political party, following former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and the first black and Asian woman to be nominated as a presidential candidate.
According to the latest polls from CBS News and other sources, Harris’ support ratings are neck and neck, at 50%, while her rival, former President Trump, is at 49%, and with just three months to go until the presidential election, the Democratic Party is looking to solidify party unity with Harris.
