Requests for Israel’s response to the air strike on a convoy of vehicles in Gaza that killed seven workers of the aid organization “World Central Kitchen” (World Central Kitchen) have increased.
One Palestinian, three British citizens, one Polish citizen, one Australian and one citizen with dual citizenship of the United States and Canada were killed in the attack by the Israeli forces on the rescue vehicles.
On Thursday, April 4th (16th of July), the “Kitchen World” announced that Australia, Great Britain, Canada, Poland and the United States had been asked to conduct “permanent investigations by a third party about these attacks, including whether this attack Whether or not it was done deliberately or violated international laws.
The foundation announced in a statement: “A permanent investigation is the only way to determine the truth of what happened, guarantee transparency and accountability of those in charge, and prevent future attacks on humanitarian aid workers.”
But Khozi Anders, the founder of the charity, said in an interview with Reuters on Wednesday that the Israeli attack targeted aid workers in Gaza “systematically, car by car”.
He said that the Central Intelligence Agency had clear contact with the Israeli army, and the Israeli army also had information about the movements of aid workers.
Anders said: “It was not bad luck if we, oh, dropped the bomb in the wrong place. Even if we were not coordinated with (the Israel Defense Forces), no democratic country and no military can target civilians and humanitarians.”
Joe Biden, the president of the United States, said in a statement that he was “angry, saddened and heartbroken” by the killing of seven aid workers in the Gaza Strip and called for the protection of aid workers.
Today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the situation in Gaza and called the attack on aid workers and the humanitarian situation in general unacceptable.
Qasr Al-Safid issued a statement saying that it is necessary to declare and implement a series of specific, decisive and measurable measures to protect civilians, humanitarian aid and security aid workers for the conflict.
The statement quoted Biden as saying: “US policy on Gaza will be determined by evaluating Israel’s immediate response to these measures.”
Biden stressed that an immediate ceasefire is necessary to stabilize and improve the humanitarian situation and protect innocent civilians, and asked Netanyahu to give the negotiators the authority to reach an agreement for the return of the hostages without delay.
John Kirby, spokesman for the White House Security Council, also told reporters after the meeting between Biden and Netanyahu: “We want to see changes from Israel. If there are no changes from them, changes will come from us.”
Anthony Albanese, the prime minister of Australia, told reporters on Thursday that Israel’s response to the attack would not have been enough, especially since Israel said, “This is just a product of war.”
Albanese said: “International humanitarian law will clearly state that aid workers should be able to provide aid and assistance without the risk of losing their own lives.”
Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of Poland, said in a press conference on Thursday that Poland is waiting to hear an explanation about what happened and compensation will be paid to the families of the victims.
Britain summoned the Israeli ambassador based in London and said that the attack on Israel, which resulted in the death of three British citizens, would be severely condemned and “full accountability” would be given to the petitioners.
Netanyahu, without apologizing for the killing of foreign citizens in Gaza, described the incident as “tragic” and said that the attack will be fully investigated.
But Isaac Herzog, the president of Israel, and Khozi Anders, the founder of the charity organization, expressed not only “deep regret” but also “sincere apologies”.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Chief of Staff, Herzei Halevi, said on Wednesday morning, April 3, that the attack was a “big mistake.” And he said, “I am sorry for the unintentional damage to the members of the kitchen center of the world.”
Hallowi said that this incident should not have happened, but explained that the night air attack was due to “misidentification” and “very complicated circumstances”.
The war in Gaza started when the Hamas group attacked Israel on October 7 last year, according to Israeli officials, the fighters of this group killed about 1,160 people, most of whom were civilians, and took more than 240 hostages. The Ministry of Health in Gaza, which is under the control of the Hamas group, has said that more than 33,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have died in Israel’s attacks on Gaza so far.
