Pune : The admission process for 25 percent reserved seats in private schools under the Right to Education Act (RTE) has been extended for the second time. Therefore, parents of students who have not yet taken admission have an opportunity till August 8 to apply for admission. More than 50 thousand seats are still vacant in the admission process.
Director of Primary Education Sharad Gosavi gave this information. This year, 1 lakh 5 thousand 242 seats are available for admission in 9 thousand 217 schools of the state. Out of 2 lakh 42 thousand 516 applications filed for the same, 93 thousand 9 students were admitted. The waiting list includes 71 thousand 276 students. Initially, the education department had given a deadline from 23rd to 31st July to the students whose admissions were declared. 39 thousand 408 students got admission in this term. After that, the deadline was extended till August 5. Till Monday evening, 53 thousand 200 students had secured admission.

“There are still less admissions in the RTE admission process. Also, there is the state of rainfall in the state. Therefore, the deadline is being extended till August 8 to give a chance to the students who have not taken admission,’ explained Gosavi.
