It was learned on the 3rd that Daito Trust Construction, a major rental housing construction company, will introduce a new work system that allows senior employees who have reached the retirement age of 60 to choose more flexible work styles. Contract employees who wish to be rehired will be allowed three days off per week and reduced working hours per day. The aim is to expand the options for work styles that take into account family circumstances and health conditions, leading to the securing of human resources.

As the population continues to decline, retaining older employees is a challenge that will determine the survival of each company. Movements regarding working styles and treatment of older employees are likely to become even more widespread in the future.

Daito Trust Construction’s maximum age for continued employment is 70, and after turning 60, employees can choose to either extend their retirement age or be rehired. Currently, both options require full-time work, five days a week.

The new system will begin in September. Re-employed workers can choose their daily working hours from six hours to a full-time seven and a half hours in 30-minute increments. For seven and a half hours, the salary will be 80-90% of the base salary, and for six hours, it will be 60-70%.
