Daewoo Construction
It was announced on the 2nd that it was selected as the construction company at the regular general meeting of the ‘Gaepo Public Housing 5 Complex Apartment Reconstruction Project’ held at the auditorium of Gyeonggi Girls’ High School in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on August 31st.

This project involves building 1,279 apartment units and auxiliary welfare facilities in 14 buildings with 4 underground floors and 35 above-ground floors on 187 Gaepo-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and 1 other plot of land. The construction cost is 697 billion won.

Daewoo Construction proposed the name of the complex as ‘Gaepo Summit 187’ to reflect the meaning of the business site number, 187, Gaepo-dong. In order to build a landmark befitting the high-end brand ‘Summit’, they will work with eight world-class masters in various fields, including exterior design, structural stability, landscape design, community, unit households, home deco design, interior lighting design, and interior styling.

First, we plan to apply the crystal exterior design in collaboration with UNStudio, a global design firm with track records such as the Benz Museum and Apgujeong Galleria Department Store. In order to enhance the exterior, we plan to introduce curtain wall look and specialized doorposts at the four entrances in the east, west, south, and north, and create a central plaza twice the size of a soccer field to maximize the sense of openness. We also proposed a design for a moat to store rainwater to prepare for flooding caused by heavy rain.

Daewoo Construction collaborated with SWNA, the nation’s top design firm, to meticulously design every detail of the interior, from decoration to styling and lighting. Through floor plan specialization, the view was expanded as well as the service area, and the LDK layout with a panoramic view was used to increase space efficiency. The ceiling height was designed to be 2.6m and the well ceiling was designed to be 2.7m, maximizing the sense of space and openness.

Daewoo Construction proposed two types of community, ‘Sunken 187 Community’ and ‘Sky 187 Community’, which embody the philosophy of Summit, so that residents can enjoy a high-end life. By significantly improving the community area with a large-scale integrated duplex sunken of approximately 10m in height, it secured the largest community area of ​​3.3 pyeong per household in Gaepo.

Various leisure, cultural, educational and sports facilities will be installed, and the most notable facilities are the two-story indoor golf practice range with a maximum distance of 20m and the hotel-grade swimming pool with three lanes that are 25m long. Screen golf and screen tennis facilities, which have recently become increasingly popular, will also be installed, and various sports facilities such as indoor tennis courts, table tennis, and billiard halls will be provided so that residents can enjoy sports at any time regardless of the weather.

In addition, a design proposal was made to place a sky lounge and sky rooftop garden in the ‘Sky 187’ community, which is open on three sides and has a height of three floors (21st to 23rd floors), so that one can enjoy a panoramic view of Yangjae Stream, Daemosan Mountain, and the night view of the city.

Daewoo Construction is continuing the expansion of its high-end brand Summit by being selected as the construction company for Gaepo Public Housing Complex 5, following recent orders for Hannam District 2, Yeouido Gongjak, and Shinbanpo 16th. Daewoo Construction has achieved a total of 4 orders worth 1.3554 trillion won in urban development projects this year, starting with the Shinbanpo 16th reconstruction project.

A Daewoo Construction official said, “As the private company with the largest housing supply in Korea, Daewoo Construction will quickly complete the best landmark in Gaepo District based on the experience and redevelopment business know-how it has accumulated so far.” He added, “We will showcase Daewoo Construction’s high-end residential culture in Apgujeong, Seocho, Yeouido, Mokdong, and Seongsu by emphasizing brand value and business conditions befitting a luxury residential complex.”
