The Confucian Academy issued a latest response yesterday, saying that it welcomes the Education Bureau to appoint new school directors to join the school’s incorporated management committee, and decided to postpone the school management committee meeting until the new school directors join; Dacheng Primary School Principal Yuan Pan Shuxian also said earlier that she welcomes the bureau’s intervention and hopes that the Education Bureau can clarify what management failure means. Some parents said that the school’s teaching quality is high and they do not want it to be closed.
All parties welcome the Education Bureau’s arrangement
In its latest response yesterday, the Confucian Institute said that it very much welcomes the Education Bureau to appoint school directors to join the school’s Incorporated Management Committee to assist the Incorporated Management Committee in performing its duties and to more effectively promote the transition arrangements for students and teaching staff; the principal of the Confucian Institute’s Dacheng Primary School, Tang Weilun, decided to postpone the meeting of the Incorporated Management Committee until the Education Bureau appoints new school directors to join, so that the meeting can discuss the transition plan more effectively and reach a consensus as soon as possible.
Parents: High teaching quality, hope the course will not be discontinued
The principal of Tai Shing Primary School, Yuen Poon Suk-han, said earlier that she personally welcomed the Education Bureau’s intervention in the incident, and believed that the current problem was that the school-running group failed to conduct extensive consultations with all stakeholders, and the Confucian Academy refused to comply with the school governance structure and convene an Incorporated Management Committee. She also said that she hoped the Education Bureau would clarify what management failure is and what it means, so that people with ulterior motives would not make a fuss and confuse the public.
Some parents said that the school has high teaching quality and the teachers are willing to help students, so they do not want the school to close down. Some parents also believe that the school sponsoring body’s proposal to provide a $10,000 subsidy will provide limited help to students and they feel reluctant to part with the school’s passionate teachers.
