Kochi: The Minister P. Rajiv. He was speaking at a review meeting presided over by the Minister, which included National Highway Authority officials and people’s representatives of the constituencies through which the National Highway passes, ahead of the stone-laying process as per the alignment of the National Highway.

A change in the current alignment is not feasible. Public concerns related to underpasses and entry-exit points will be addressed. Exit points should be convenient for people. Where this is required will be decided locally. The aim is to complete the land acquisition and distribution of compensation for the national highway in a manner beneficial to the people. The Minister also informed that within two and a half years, the land acquisition will be completed and the construction will begin.

As part of the widening of the Thrissur-Idapally road, a six-lane national highway is being constructed starting from Ankamali Karayamparam and reaching Nettur. The route will pass through 18 villages and three taluks. 15 bridges will be constructed. The expected cost is Rs 4650 crore. 290 hectares of land will have to be acquired for the road.
