Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge suggested to the Congress leaders in Karnataka that ‘make promises that can come true’. Now Prime Minister Modi and Kharge are fighting on social media over this. Prime Minister Modi criticized the Congress citing Kharge’s statement. “The true face of Congress has been exposed. They make promises that are never fulfilled. It is now exposed to the public”, criticized PM Modi in a post on X. Kharge also responded to this criticism by posting on X. Kharge said that PM Modi did a mild PR stunt for publicity.
How did the controversy begin?
After Mallikarjun Kharge poked the ears of independent party leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took this opportunity to criticize the Congress. Posting on X, he said, “Congress party has now learned that it is easy to make extravagant promises but difficult to implement. In every election campaign, extravagant promises are made by Congress, even Congress knows that these promises will not come true. Congress has exposed itself to the people in a very bad way.”

Mallikarjun Kharge said in a press conference in Karnataka along with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, “You gave five guarantees in Karnataka. Looking at you, we also offered five promises. Now I read in the newspaper that you are withdrawing one of these promises. You are not reading the newspaper. But I read.”
Based on this, Prime Minister Modi said, look at any state where Congress is in power today. Growth has slowed down in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana. Economic condition has deteriorated. They have not fulfilled their promises. This is a kind of betrayal of the people of that state.
