Miami Open women’s singles quarter-finals took place on March 27, with American Danielle Collins and 14th seed Ekaterina Alexandrova advancing to the semi-finals to meet in the semi-finals.

Collins, ranked 53rd in the world, comfortably defeated 23rd seed Caroline Garcia of France 6-3, 6-2. Collins, who has announced her intention to retire at the end of this season, also reached the semi-finals in the 2018 tournament as a qualifier.

Alexandrova beat fifth seed Jessica Pegula of the United States 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in a tight match that lasted nearly two hours, marking her third win against a top-five player this season after beating world number one Iga Swiatek of Poland in the fourth round.
