On the 31st, Katano City in Osaka Prefecture dismissed Takeo Nakajima (39), a clerk in the General Affairs Department’s Personnel Division, who was working in the General Affairs Division of the Waterworks Bureau at the time, for committing lewd acts on a girl he met on a social networking site, knowing that she was under the age of 16.

According to the city, he was arrested and re-arrested in February and March of this year on suspicion of requesting to meet the girl for lewd purposes and of having non-consensual sexual intercourse with her, and was indicted on both charges in April. He reportedly admitted to the charges at trial.

The city issued a statement saying, “We deeply apologize to the victims and citizens. We will work to restore trust in city government.”
