Chinese authorities deploy security guards at bus stops and on buses following attack on a Japanese school shuttle bus in Suzhou, China

Following an incident in which a Japanese school bus was attacked in Suzhou, China, and a Japanese parent and child were stabbed, it has been learned that security guards have been deployed at bus stops and on the buses.

According to local authorities, a Japanese parent and child were stabbed by a 52-year-old Chinese man while waiting for a school bus in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province on the afternoon of the 24th.

The man then attempted to board a shuttle bus, stabbing a Chinese female bus attendant who tried to stop him.

Both the Japanese mother and child are in good health, but the Chinese woman is in critical condition.

Following the incident, the Japanese Consulate-General in Shanghai asked the Suzhou city government to step up security measures, and according to the Japanese Consulate-General, Chinese authorities have deployed four security guards at all bus stops where shuttle buses stop, as well as one security guard on the bus itself.

School resumes on the 26th.
