[April 17, CNS]China’s leading electric vehicle (EV) company BYD Automobile (BYD) has rolled off the new energy vehicle (NEV) DENZA N7 from its production line, becoming the world’s first Chinese car brand to do so. The company announced that it has achieved production of 7 million new energy vehicles.

In 2023, BYD sold more than 3.02 million new energy vehicles throughout the year, and entered the world’s top 10 car sales for the first time.

New energy vehicles account for more than 48.2 percent of total weekly car sales in China, and the penetration rate is expected to exceed 50 percent within the next three months. Additionally, BYD accounted for 7 of the top 10 passenger car sales in the third week of March.

In recent years, BYD has aggressively expanded into the global market, and in 2023, the number of new energy passenger cars sold overseas exceeded 240,000 units, an increase of 337% from the previous year.

BYD has so far expanded into 78 countries and regions around the world, investing and building factories in overseas regions such as Brazil, Hungary, and Thailand. (c)CNS/JCM/AFPBB News
