[May 11, Xinhua News]The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), a think tank under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, recently compiled data on communication speeds for fifth-generation mobile communication systems (5G) in the first quarter (January to March). )According to actual measurement data, the download speed of China’s 5G communication was more than 10 times that of the 4th generation mobile communication system (4G).

The average communication speed for 5G users is 304.8 megabits per second (Mbps) for download and 49.6 Mbps for upload, while the average communication speed for 4G is 27.8 Mbps for download and 2.9 Mbps for upload, when using Wi-Fi. The download speed was 179.7Mbps and the uplink speed was 36.3Mbps.

This data was compiled and analyzed by CAICT from actual communication speed data from the 5G cloud test platform, with the aim of reflecting the actual state of 5G communication speeds in Japan. The 5G cloud test platform adopted a model that combines an app and a cloud platform, and users voluntarily conducted communication speed tests using the 5G cloud test app. Due to uncertainties regarding test times, locations, and wireless environments, test results reflect only the speeds actually experienced by users of the tested apps.

By region, 5G communication download speeds were high in Heilongjiang Province, Yunnan Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Hainan Province, Jiangsu Province, Shanghai City, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Zhejiang Province, Fujian Province, Shandong Province, etc., with a maximum speed of 358.8 Mbps. . In addition, upstream speeds were up to 69.8 Mbps in Yunnan, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Hainan, Heilongjiang, Gansu, Shanghai, Hunan, Xinjiang, and Henan.

The key cities (31 provincial capitals, autonomous region capitals, direct-controlled cities, and five single-tier planned cities) include Harbin (Heilongjiang Province), Qingdao (Shandong Province), Kunming (Yunnan Province), Ningbo (Zhejiang Province), and Shijiazhuang ( The download speed of 5G communication was high at up to 389.2 Mbps in the cities of Hebei Province), Urumqi (Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region), Haikou (Haikou Province), Shenyang (Liaoning Province), Jinan (Shandong Province), and Shanghai. Additionally, uplink speeds were high at up to 76.7 Mbps in Jinan, Kunming, Harbin, Zhengzhou, Haikou, Guiyang (Guizhou Province), Guangzhou (Guangdong Province), Dalian (Liaoning Province), Urumqi, and Shanghai.

In China, standalone (SA) 5G communication networks cover almost the entire area, and when you connect to the internet with a 5G-compatible smartphone, you can use SA 5G communication by default. Of the number of terminals connected to the SA method, 5G smartphones account for 76.8%, and non-standalone (NSA) methods account for 23.2%. For mainstream devices such as HONOR, Samsung, OPPO, Huawei, Realme, and iPhone, the percentage of SA methods exceeded 90%. (c)Xinhua News/AFPBB News
