China announces launch of “Friends of Peace Group” aiming for political solution to Ukraine issue

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has announced the creation of a new group to work with emerging and developing countries to find a political solution to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly on the 28th, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, “We must prevent the war from escalating.”

Furthermore, they announced that they had agreed to establish a Friends of Peace Group with China, Brazil, and other emerging and developing countries in the so-called “Global South” to seek a political solution to the Ukraine issue.

The agreement was reached on the 27th at a meeting presided over by China and Brazil, where Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China’s advocacy and mediation efforts on the Ukraine issue have received wide support from countries in the Global South. He emphasized.
