“Celebrating nationalism”: French high-speed train TGV arson attack; email with “manifesto of crime” received by multiple media outlets; some report “supporting the crime”

In the incident in which a high-speed railway facility was set on fire just before the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics™, it has been discovered that emails claiming to be a “crime attack” have been sent to multiple media outlets.

The TGV high-speed train is expected to return to normal service on the 29th, but according to the French daily newspaper La Provence, an email claiming to be a “crime scene” was sent to multiple media outlets more than 24 hours after the incident.

The email criticised the Olympics as a “celebration of nationalism” and said La Provence “suggests that the attack was perpetrated by a far-left group.”

On the other hand, since the specific details of the incident were not mentioned in Le Figaro, it is not a manifesto of the crime but rather a “message in support of acts of sabotage.”

Incidentally, the official triathlon swimming practice scheduled for the 28th in the Seine River in Paris has been canceled due to deteriorating water quality.

The organizing committee explained that the rain up until the previous day had affected the water quality test results and that it did not meet the implementation standards. Regarding the actual event starting on the 30th, they stated, “Considering the weather forecast, we are confident that the standards will be met before the start of the competition.”
