According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Thailand, speaking at the opening ceremony of the event in Khon Kaen, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh said that this was the first time the Vietnamese representative agency in Thailand had organized a meeting and worked with all the leaders of the General Association and Vietnamese branches in localities in Thailand. The Ambassador affirmed that the meeting was a valuable opportunity for the Vietnamese representative agency in Thailand to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the Vietnamese community in Thailand, on that basis, promptly find measures to provide maximum support to the overseas Vietnamese community, contributing to the strong and prosperous development of the General Association and its branches.

Consul General Chu Duc Dung reaffirmed that the Vietnamese community in Thailand is a community with a rich revolutionary tradition. Over the years, the General Association and its branches have played a role in connecting and gathering the Vietnamese community in Thailand under a common roof, thereby contributing to strengthening the connection between overseas Vietnamese, promoting the tradition of patriotism, preserving the national cultural identity and maintaining the Vietnamese language, helping overseas Vietnamese have a stable and developed life, contributing to the development of the locality as well as being a bridge connecting the Vietnam – Thailand relationship.

In order to further promote the role of the General Association and consolidate and build a strong Vietnamese community in Thailand, Consul General Chu Duc Dung suggested that the General Association soon come up with a direction to promote the spirit of solidarity, support and mutual assistance to help all overseas Vietnamese develop the economy, have a stable, prosperous and happy life, and at the same time call on people to actively respond and participate in community activities as well as movements towards the homeland.

In particular, Mr. Dung also suggested that the leaders of the General Association pay attention to training, boldly bring the next generation of young people, especially children and grandchildren who have a positive spirit to participate in the activities of the General Association and Vietnamese associations to become the core; Strengthen education so that young generations of overseas Vietnamese understand the good traditions as well as the beauty of the national cultural identity, the history of the country and the people of Vietnam to promote patriotism, preserve and promote Vietnamese values ​​in Thailand.

At the meeting, the leaders of the General Association and its branches had many enthusiastic and practical opinions, contributing to the work of the association, economic cooperation between localities in the country and overseas Vietnamese businessmen, the next generation of overseas Vietnamese… The opinions highly appreciated the regular and active coordination and support of the Vietnamese representative agency in Thailand with the General Association to build a united, strong and developed General Association. In addition, there were opinions expressing the wishes of overseas Vietnamese to be facilitated in the procedures for entry to Vietnam to visit relatives, bringing the younger generation to learn about their homeland and country.

The General Assembly leaders were also pleased to announce plans to be implemented in 2023, including plans to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the General Assembly. The General Assembly leaders expressed their hope to continue receiving the attention and support of the Embassy and Consulate General.

Concluding the meeting, Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh expressed his belief that the contributions of overseas Vietnamese representatives will help promote the strengths of the Vietnamese community in Thailand and contribute to building a stronger and more united Thai overseas Vietnamese community in the future. The Ambassador affirmed that the Vietnamese representative agency in Thailand will strive to support the community in establishing cultural centers, organizing common community activities, and continuing to promote the movement of teaching and learning Vietnamese in the community, especially for the younger generation. He also called on the General Association and its branches to continue to promote their role as a center for solidarity and connection of the overseas Vietnamese community, maintaining the image of a typical community, a model of the Vietnamese community in the world.
