On Monday, October 14 (23 Mizan), Britain imposed sanctions on a number of Iranian military officials, including the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and Air Force Commander N. Kishor, for the ballistic missile attacks on Israel.
David Lammy, British Foreign Secretary, said that if Iran ignored repeated warnings that “dangerous actions” would ignite a new war in the Middle East.
During the meeting with the Foreign Ministers of the European Union, the British Foreign Minister said that the new sanctions were an attempt to hold Iran accountable and reveal that they were behind the attacks on Israel.
He added: “Alongside our allies and partners, we will continue to take the necessary measures to challenge the unacceptable threats of Iran and pressure to reduce tension in the entire region.”
Among the Iranian officials who will not be able to travel to Britain from now on and all their assets will be frozen in this country, Abdul Rahim Mousavi, the Chief of Staff, Mohammad Kazemi, the director of the intelligence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Hamid Wahidi, the commander of the Air Force of the country, are included.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fired nearly 200 missiles at Israel in retaliation for Israel’s attacks, which resulted in the deaths of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders.
In the month of April, Iran targeted Israel in its first direct missile attack in response to an Israeli airstrike on the consulate of this country in Damascus.
The United Kingdom has also imposed sanctions on Iran’s space agency if its technology can be used in ballistic and cruise missiles.
Last week, the United States government imposed sanctions on dozens of companies in Iran’s oil and petrochemical sector.
