[Breaking News]Seine River clears water quality standards for Paris Olympics triathlon

It was decided today that the triathlon events at the Paris Olympic Games™ will go ahead as scheduled, as the water quality of the Seine River has met the required standards.

The Paris Olympic Organising Committee and others have just announced that water quality tests on the Seine River, where the triathlon swim will take place, have shown that it meets the standards to allow the event to take place.

This means that the women’s individual event will take place today at 8 a.m. local time, followed by the men’s individual event, which was postponed yesterday and is scheduled to take place after the women’s event.

The water quality of the Seine had been improving in the run-up to the Olympics, but rain had caused domestic wastewater to flow into the river, and there had been days when E. coli levels exceeded the legal limit.
