NoT and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s emergency film hits back in Bombay High Court. The makers had approached the Bombay High Court for the film’s release and censor certificate. The Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the Censor Board to hear the arguments of those who criticized the film. Considering the plea of the producers, it was said that in this situation, the Censor Board cannot be asked for release and certificate. The film cannot be released until it gets permission from the Censor Board. The Bombay High Court has directed the CBFC to take a decision on issuing the certificate by September 18. A division bench comprising Justices BP Kolabawalla and Firdosh Pooniwala heard the petition.
The film, which was slated to release on September 6, was accused of misrepresenting society and misrepresenting historical facts. Various organizations have approached the court pointing out that the film insults the Sikh community. Then the release of the film was postponed indefinitely.
The film is jointly produced by Sea Studios and Manikarnika Films. Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Malayalam actor Visakh Nair and late actor Satish Kaushik are playing the lead roles. Ritesh Shah has penned the screenplay and dialogues and the music is composed by Sanjit Balhara. Earlier, the release of the emergency was postponed due to the Lok Sabha elections.
Kangana Ranaut reacted to the delay in the release. She imposed an emergency on her film as well. This is a very disappointing situation,” Kangana said.
