Thiruvananthapuram: Alleppey Ripples got their first win in the Kerala Cricket League. Thrissur defeated Titans by five wickets. Captain Muhammad Azharuddin scored 92 runs in 47 balls including nine sixes and gave Alleppey an easy win. Batting first, Alleppey overcame the target of 162 runs set by Thrissur Titans with the loss of five wickets in 18.3 overs.

Azharuddin’s rescue came after Krishna Prasad (one) and Akshay Shiv (three) came back quickly with Vinoop Manohar in company. Vinoop scored 30 runs off 27 balls and Alfie Francis scored 12 runs while Akshay T.K. He was unbeaten on 18 off 17 balls and Neil Sunny on one.

Alleppey Ripples won the toss and chose to field. On the strength of Akshay Manohar’s half-century, Thrissur Titans scored 161 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Akshay scored 57 runs off 44 balls with five sixes and a four.

Opener Abhishek Pratap returned on the very first ball of the match. Captain Varun Nayanar was out for one run. Apart from Aksha, Vishnu Vinod (22 off 14 balls), Ahmed Imran (23 off 21 balls) and Arjun Venugopal (20 off 20 balls) also played well for Thrissur. Anand Joseph took three wickets and Fazil Fanoos took two wickets each for Alleppey.
