The second edition of the Asuka Teramoto Cup, founded by Asuka Teramoto (23), who participated in two Olympic gymnastics events in London in 2012 and Rio de Janeiro in 2016, will be held in Komaki, Aichi on March 22 and 23, 2025. It will be held in The executive committee made the announcement on the 1st. Based on the lessons learned from the first tournament, we expanded the age range of participants. Categories were created for children from middle school to fourth grade. Watching the game is free.
Ms. Teramoto said, “I felt that there were few opportunities for athletes with growth potential to present the results of their extensive training, and I wanted them to try out the techniques they wanted to try in competitions. With this in mind, I organized the first competition to develop women’s gymnastics. The event was held in March 2024, and many female gymnasts participated. The unique feature of this second time was that children attending gymnastics classes and their families said, “I want a place to present my work” and “I want a chance to express my goals.” “We have had the opportunity to hear people say, ‘I want to take the class and see it grow,’ so we will set up a division for fourth-year elementary school students, which is open to the general public.”
She continued, “We would like to widen the range of participating ages and provide a place where children can present the results of their practice and feel their growth. In addition, we have divisions for female athletes, such as the “Expressive Division” and the “Average Division.” We will be holding the “Stand Section” on the athletes’ course.Currently, artistic evaluation is emphasized in gymnastics scoring around the world, and we are refocusing on the artistic aspect of the scoring rules. There’s also the idea of being “aware of world standards.” I hope that the children who watched the gymnastics competition at the Paris Olympics this summer will also become interested in participating in the program.”
