Assam Minor Gangrape Case : The accused in the gang rape of a minor girl in Assam’s Nagaon district has died. He jumped into the lake while trying to escape while in police custody, reported the Indian Express.
Three names come to light in the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old girl in Dhing area of Nagaon district in Assam. In this the accused Tafazul Islam (24) has been arrested. A case has been registered against him under sections of Indian Security Code and POSCO Act.
SDRF recovered the body
The police were taking the accused to the spot. Then he tried to run away. In this attempt, he jumped into the lake. But he died. The police immediately called the SDRF to find him in the lake. The police inspector of Nagav informed that his body was recovered after the SDRF found it. Also, the constable who handcuffed him has also been injured. He further explained that he has been sent to the hospital for treatment.

How did the disaster affect the little one?
Police said that a student of class 10 was returning home on a bicycle after completing her studies in Dhing area around 8 pm on Thursday night when three men on a motorcycle attacked her and raped her. After the rape, she was left injured and unconscious on the roadside near a lake. Locals saw her and informed the police.
Chief Minister Sarma told reporters in Hailakandi that the law will not spare the criminals who dared to commit such a brutal crime with a minor Hindu girl from Dhing. Sarma alleged that, ‘After the Lok Sabha elections, a section of members of a certain community has become very active and is inciting them to commit such crimes. However, we will take strict action against the culprits and no one will be spared.’

Meanwhile, people from different walks of life took to the streets on Friday morning demanding the arrest of the culprits. Shopkeepers shut their businesses and social and political organizations demanded strict action against the culprits and safety of women and girls.
