[Reporter Dong Baiting/Taipei Report]Taiwanese publications and the Taiwan Pavilion have received great attention at the Seoul Book Fair in recent years. The organizer, the Korea Publishing Association, announced at the opening of the 2024 Seoul Book Fair yesterday (26th) that the 2025 Seoul Book Fair will be titled “Taiwan”. The theme country is the first time in the 70 years since the book fair was established that Taiwan has been invited to be the theme country. This year, the Cultural Content Promotion Institute and the Taipei Book Fair Foundation jointly hosted the Taiwan Pavilion of the 2024 Seoul International Book Fair, and joined hands with 48 publishing houses and 336 Taiwanese publications to participate in the exhibition in South Korea and hold business exchange activities.

Cai Jiajun, chairman of the Institute of Cultural Studies, said that the Institute has had close exchanges with Korean industries and markets in the fields of publishing, IP licensing, cultural technology, and film and television content. The Taipei Book Fair Foundation explained that since 2008, the Taipei Book Fair has interacted with the Korean publishing industry in the form of a “Taiwan Pavilion” for 18 years, strengthening two-way copyright transactions between Taiwan and South Korea year by year. In 2023, the number of Taiwanese publishers visiting the Seoul Book Fair reached a peak, with the exception of nine The film and television effects of the sword work and the Xu Guanghan phenomenon. The Xu Zongmao Gallery, which is famous for its rich collection of graphic and historical materials, exhibited the Korean historical picture album “Japanese Imperial Korea, 1910-1945” last year, attracting a large number of Korean readers every day. The 2024 Seoul International Book Fair will be held from June 26 to 30 at the Gangnam International Exhibition Center (COEX). This year, the Taiwan Pavilion has planned various exhibition areas, including selected works from “Books from Taiwan”, as well as “award-winning books” such as the Golden Tripod Award, the Taiwan Literature Golden Classic Award and the Taipei Book Fair Grand Prize.
