Father Xi Zhiping, president of the Catholic Church for Foreign Missions in Bethlehem, founded Gongdong Polytechnic in 1957 and invited Swiss architect Daxingden to design the school building. Among them, the church building is a 4-story building constructed with reinforced concrete panels. The floor slabs are beamless slabs and the walls are made of fair-faced concrete walls. Walking along the semi-outdoor staircase made of boards on one side to the top floor is the church. The floor of the church is paved with red squares and equipped with simple benches. The top with a beveled angle in section is made up of thin plate-like plate beams arranged in parallel. The vertical plate beams intersecting the central axis span to the altar. The design of the plate beams allows the light from the skylight on the top to indirectly shine in, and the soft light is projected on Jesus. The bronze sculpture of the Eucharist and the altar with lamb patterns, as well as the stained glass on the outer and inner walls completed by Swiss technicians, are also rare masterpieces.
