Apple without the iPhone? Unthinkable! And yet they are already working on one in Cupertino Future without smartphone. For years, Apple has been developing a so-called mixed reality headset, a pair of data glasses that combines elements of virtual (VR) and augmented (AR) reality.
Apple’s mixed reality headset: likely to premiere on June 5th
Experts agree that such a device or a similar one could make the iPhone obsolete in the next decade. But for that to happen, Apple would have to introduce it first. This was not certain until the end. Even our own employees initially had doubts, but these concerns now seem to have disappeared.
It was always in conversation for a first look at the headset WWDC, Apple’s in-house developer fair. It will open on June 5th with the traditional keynote. That much is certain. However, the introduction of the mixed reality headset was not yet certain.

But now this seems to be in the clear. After that before Wall Street Journal reported, Apple insider and industry expert Ming-Chi Kuo also thinks so Premiere of the headset for June 5th as “very likely” possible (source: MacRumors).
He previously reported on corresponding production shifts that made an announcement of the headset at WWDC seem rather unlikely. But now Kuo also sees things positively. Ergo: All signs are green.
Apple’s future is no longer the iPhone
With the performance on June 5th, literally everything will change. Because even if the iPhone will be important for Apple for years to come, The actual future and the focus on it officially lie somewhere else for the manufacturer.

However, the glasses will not initially be a device for the masses. With a rumored price of $3,000 and quite modest sales volumes of between 7 and 10 million units in the first year, the mixed reality headset will initially remain a toy for developers and rich “early adopters”. But as time goes on and prices fall, this could change.
