The explosion of a car filled with explosives in the occupied Luhansk region of Ukraine, killed a government official appointed by Russia.
Local officials said today, April 1 (13), that the assistant representative of the local investigative committee of Russia, who is responsible for the investigation of major crimes, was killed in the explosion. The nature of this explosion is still unclear.
Over the past two years, a number of Moscow-appointed officials have been killed in what appears to be an organized campaign in eastern Ukraine. It is believed that these campaigns were launched by Ukraine or pro-Ukraine forces.
The committee said that the investigation into the “terrorist act” had started and also published a picture of a car that was completely destroyed.
Volodymyr Cherniv, the local mayor, said that Valery Chaika was killed in the accident and asked local residents to be aware of any suspicious activities.
Luhansk is one of the four regions of Ukraine that Moscow annexed in 2022.
