AMD will officially start selling the “Ryzen 9000X3D” series on November 7th start like the company announced today. Now we know which model AMD will sell first: the Ryzen 7 9800X3D around 530 euros.
Technical data
The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is already at Geizhals listedbut there are currently no providers. As expected, the X3D model is an 8-core with 16 threads. AMD specifies the base clock at 4.7 GHz, the maximum clock frequency is 5.2 GHz. The power loss (TDP) has not changed compared to its predecessor and remains at 120 watts. The special feature of the X3D variants is the additional L2 buffer memory of 64 MB, which is intended to noticeably improve gaming performance.
AMD also claims to have lowered the temperature inside the chip by relocating the 3D cache: “AMD has revised its industry-leading on-chip memory solution with 2nd Gen AMD 3D V-Cache technology. The 64MB cache memory has been relocated under the processor, moving the Core Complex Die (CCD) closer to cooling to keep the “Zen 5” cores cooler.”
At the same time, AMD has given itself more scope to squeeze one or two additional megahertz out of the processor.
Gaming computing power
The first benchmarks are already floating around the internet, comparing them to its predecessor, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D Performance jump of up to 25 percent put in prospect. AMD itself is a little more reserved and promises an average increase in speed of games of 8 percent compared to that Ryzen 7 7800X3D:

However, the lead over the new Intel top model Core Ultra 9 285K is clear, AMD sees itself a whopping 20 percent ahead of the Intel CPU on average:

Price
AMD states the recommended retail price for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D as $479. Due to the exchange rate and the VAT not included in the US price, we assume a street price of around 530 euros in Germany.
If you consider that the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K costs at least 650 euros and the currently most popular gaming processor, the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, at least 465 euros As a result, AMD’s targeted starting price is quite attractive.
Saving tip for gamers: In our opinion, the processor with the best price-performance ratio is currently the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D. The CPU is no longer technically up to date, but still delivers very high gaming computing power – and at a price of under 200 euros:

Price when tested:
$249
In addition, the motherboard and RAM are cheaper on an AM4 platform. A good AM4 motherboard with the B550 chipset like that ASRock B550M Phantom Gaming 4 You can get them for around 80 euros.
Initial assessment
It looks like AMD could further expand its dominance in gaming with the 9800X3D. At probably 530 euros, the CPU is not exactly a bargain, but in our opinion it is fairly priced.
Conversely, things are looking rather bleak for Intel. The new Intel Core Ultra 200S desktop series is slower in games than its predecessor, and the latter already had difficulty keeping up with the Ryzen 7000X3D series.
