At the beginning of the year, we will introduce masterpiece movies that will give you energy just by watching them, so that you can move forward with the start of 2023 with a new mindset.
In the 10th installment of “Katsura Edanoshin’s classic movie stories”, we will deliver the charm of “Forest Gump / Once in a Lifetime” (1994).
The main character is Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks), who was born in a rural town in Alabama, USA. Although his IQ is lower than those around him, he has a sincere and dedicated personality and is as fast as anyone, and this is the story of how he runs through America’s turbulent times.
The director is Robert Zemeckis, known for his work on the Back to the Future series. As the director often uses CG and VFX to pursue unique visual effects, the story begins with a CG cut of white feathers flying in the air. One of the highlights is that the state-of-the-art technology used when it was produced in 1994 supports the reality of the work at key points.
Gump is a simple boy who strictly follows the orders of his single parent, Gump. When he got on the school bus for the first time, he introduced himself to the driver, saying, “You shouldn’t ride in a stranger’s car,” and then getting on the bus.He had a somewhat unusual character.
Because of this, Gump is looked at with curiosity by those around him, and Gump has a hard time blending in with the people around him, but Gump’s classmate, Jenny Curran (Robin Wright), sits alone next to him and talks to him.
From that day on, Gump and Jenny hit it off.
Jenny gradually becomes a special person to Gump.
