Miami Open tennis, the fourth round of the men’s singles took place on the 26th, with top seed Carlos Alcaraz (Spain) and second seed Jannik Sinner (Italy) advancing to the quarterfinals as expected.

Alcaraz beat 23rd seed Lorenzo Musetti of Italy 6-3, 6-3, while Sinner beat Christopher O’Connell of Australia 6-4, 6-3.

Alcaraz, looking to complete a “sunshine double” by winning two matches in a row since the BNP Paribas Open, will next face 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, who came from behind to beat eighth seed Hubert Hurkacz of Poland 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).

Sinner will face Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals.

Third seed Daniil Medvedev, who is looking to defend his title, beat Germany’s Dominik Koepfer 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 to reach the quarterfinals and will next face 22nd seed Nicolas Jarry of Chile, who beat Norway’s seventh seed Casper Ruud 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.

Fourth seed Alexander Zverev of Germany comfortably defeated 15th seed Karen Khachanov 6-1, 6-4 to set up a quarter-final meeting with Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan.

Marozsan, ranked 57th in the world, beat ninth seed Alex De Minaur of Australia 6-4, 0-6, 6-1. The Frenchman has been on a winning streak, with a string of upsets in the tournament, and is now guaranteed a place in the world’s top 40 after the tournament. (c)AFP
