Aiming for early construction of the Tokyo Bay Entrance Road (approximately 17 km), which runs from Futtsu City, Chiba Prefecture on the Boso Peninsula, across the Uraga Channel that passes near the entrance to Tokyo Bay, to Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, on the Miura Peninsula on the opposite shore, the Boso The Seisei Alliance (chairman: Kyo Takahashi, Mayor of Futtsu), consisting of 13 municipalities in the area, was established on the 29th. We will work extensively with locally elected members of parliament and local economic groups, and actively lobby the national and prefectural governments.

The Tokyo Bay Exit Road is also called the “second Aqua Line” following the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line, which connects Kisarazu City and Kawasaki City. Research for construction began in the 1950s, but no concrete plans have been drawn up to date. The establishment of the Seisei Alliance will increase the momentum to make this a reality.

The 13 cities and towns are Tateyama, Kisarazu, Mobara, Katsuura, Kamogawa, Kimitsu, Futtsu, Sodegaura, Isumi, and Minamiboso, and the three towns of Otaki, Kyonan, and Onjuku.

At the inaugural general meeting held in Kisarazu City on the same day, Chairman Takahashi said, “Tokyo Bay Exit Road will have an alternative in the event of a disaster and will lead to widespread regional revitalization.Let’s join forces and share our thoughts.” “By doing so, we can realize the construction that our predecessors dreamed of,” he said.

Kuniko Inoguchi, a guest of honor and a former Liberal Democratic Party minister in charge of the declining birthrate, gave a congratulatory speech, saying, “The Tokyo Bay Road will promote logistics and the flow of people, attract capital from around the world, and we can expect future generations to see an increase in their lifetime income.” (Tsubasa Matsuzaki)
